Tournament Reviews

Boston Series 31.01.10

The team this time were Neil Marshall, Matt Bowen & Robert Dunkley-Ross

We came away with 5 trophies between the three fighters which was an excellent result.

Neil entered one category of points and came away with 2nd place, pretty good for his 2nd ever tournament.

Rob entered three categories, points, veterans points and light continuous.  He came away with 3rd place in points and 2nd place in veterans, he came 4th in continuous.

Matt entered 2 categories and came away with 3rd in points and 3rd in light continous.

This was the first time Matt and Rob entered continous and did really well considering the amount of people in the category, both of them were dashing back and forth from the points mat to the continous mat and hardly got a rest in between fights!

Well done to all of you, it was a brilliant day.  Many thanks to Liam Spowage and Lance Wilkinson for coming along to support the team.

 Peterborough Series 15.11.09

The team for this event were; Steve Wilson, Matt Bowen, Rob Dunkley-Ross, Matt Drew and Trevor Palmer-Davies.

Well done to the whole team, Rob came away with another 2nd to add to his collection this year in veterans points.  Matt Bowen did exceptionally well and won his first fight by several clear points and only lost out by 1 point after going to extra time on his second fight.

For some of you this was only your first or second tournament and did well to show improvement, for others who have done a few more tournaments; this was the best some of you have performed.  Well done to all of you.

Boston Series 14th July 2009
The squad this time were Rob Dunkley-Ross, Matt Bowen & Ric Hill.

Well done to all three of you, you are all getting better and better, a few more tournaments under your belt to gain the experience and you'll soon be coming home with those trophies.

Well done to Rob who took 2nd place in veterans points, Ric who just lost out to John from Paragon, a very close fight and Matt also was only just behind to a much higher graded opponent.

Peterborough Series 28th June 2009
The Squad for the Peterborough Series on 28th June were Alan Williams, Neil Marshall, Rob Dunkley-Ross, Matt Bowen and Ric Hill.

Well done to Neil and Rob on your first tournament and extra well done to Rob who came home with 3rd place in points.

Nice work from Alan, Matt and Ric on your second tournament you all put 100% effort in, remember this is only the second time you have entered a tournament and you are all much lower grades compared to your competition, you are well on the right track and as you build your experience you will be coming home with plenty of trophies.

Thanks again to  Kelly for coming along to support the boys.

Boston Series 19th April 2009
The Squad Team for this event were Steve Wilson, Alan Williams, Aaron Leighton, Matt Drew, Matt Bowen & Ric Hill.  They all had excellent fights with several of them going to extra time with Steve Wilson winning Bronze in Men's Points.

This was the team's first tournament and they were the lowest graded students at the event.  Very well done to all of you, your efforts were outstanding and every one of you is a credit to the club.

Many thanks to Liam Spowage in his role of Assistant Coach and to Kelly Hill and Rob Dunkley-Ross for going along to support the team

Tournament Requirements

Tournaments are available for any White Tiger member.  You are required to go along to watch a tournament before deciding to take part.  You must have your own 'approved' sparring kit to participate in tournaments.

Little Tigers
Generally we don't encourage the much younger children to participate in tournament fighting due to both the pysical and mental strain of the competitions; however, as all children are different exceptions may be made for children who have been training for quite some time and have shown excellence in sparring training.  Little Tigers are restricted to 'points' fighting only.

Juniors
Children are assessed on their own ability.  Juniors may participate in tournaments if they wish to do so providing they are attending class training and squad training on a regular basis and have reached a suitable level of competance.  All students are restriced to 'points' fights for their first few tournaments - some younger children will continue with 'points' only until the instructor considers they are ready to move up to light continuous.

Adults
All adults are welcome to take part in tournaments.  You will be required to attend regular class training and regular squad sparring training.  All students are restricted to 'points' fighting for their first few tournaments.
